Today, On 6th May, The Supreme Court extended the stay on the CBI probe into the Bengal School Jobs Scam until May 7. The decision follows the appeal by the West Bengal government against the annulment of teacher appointments by Calcutta High Court. The case involves allegations of fraudulent selection procedures, prompting a call for CBI investigation.
Anuj Thapan’s family urges Bombay High Court for a CBI probe into his death in police custody. His mother alleges foul play, seeking justice, transparency, and release of CCTV footage, CDR, and a fresh post-mortem. Thapan, arrested in connection to a shooting outside Salman Khan’s residence, died under suspicious circumstances, casting doubt over the investigation.
Today(on 3rd May), the Supreme Court declined to halt the CBI’s probe into alleged illegal mining involving Hemant Soren’s associates. Justices Sanjiv Khanna and Dipankar Dutta directed the CBI to continue the investigation but refrain from submitting any chargesheet temporarily. The matter will be further heard in July. The state had questioned the legality of the CBI’s FIR.

The case began with the introduction of a new excise policy by the Delhi government in 2021, and it eventually led to legal actions against Kejriwal, culminating in the High Court’s rejection of his plea on April 9, 2024.
The Bombay High Court remarked Today (27th March) that the flow of public interest litigation (PIL) should be preserved as sacred and not exploited. “These types of PILs are needlessly consuming our court’s time. Let us endeavor to maintain the sanctity of the PIL process as much as we can,” stated the Court.
