On Tuesday(18th June),The Supreme Court adjourned the hearing of Punjab AAP MLA Jaswant Singh Gajjan Majra’s plea challenging his arrest by the Enforcement Directorate in a money laundering case to July 1. The adjournment was requested by the ED’s counsel, and follows the Supreme Court’s earlier denial of interim bail and the Punjab and Haryana High Court’s dismissal of Majra’s plea.
Today(on 13th June),the High Court directed the initiation of charges against Bimal Gurung, overturning the 2017 City Sessions Court’s decision. The appeal by CBI, supported by Madan’s wife Bharti Tamang, led to the court’s decision to proceed with legal proceedings against Gurung.
Delhi’s Rouse Avenue Court today has acquitted nine individuals, including a company and four bank officials, in a Canara Bank fraud case involving Rs 4.8 crore. Special Judge Hasan Anzar criticized the CBI’s investigation, citing lack of evidence and failure to analyze crucial documents. The court found the accused not guilty of criminal conspiracy due to insufficient evidence.
Today(on 17th May), The Calcutta High Court directed BJP Mandal President Gangadhar Kayl’s plea to the Chief Justice, citing the ongoing Sandeshkhali case being heard by another Bench. Justice Jay Sengupta led the proceedings, acknowledging Chief Justice TS Sivagnanam and Justice Hiranmay Bhattacharyya’s involvement in the main case.
Today(on 16th May),The Calcutta High Court declined an urgent hearing to BJP leader Priyanka Tibrewal, who alleged coercion of women in Sandeshkhali to withdraw rape cases against TMC workers. The Bench advised Tibrewal to address her concerns to the CBI, which is investigating the matter.

Today(on 10th May), BJP’s Gangadhar Kayal from Sandeshkhali, West Bengal, petitions Calcutta High Court over a ‘fake’ video circulating on social media, claiming manipulation of his image in the footage allegedly from a sting operation.
During a Supreme Court hearing, senior advocate Abhishek Manu Singhvi humorously declined to offer solicitor general Tushar Mehta an internship under him. The hearing involved an original suit by the West Bengal government against the Centre concerning CBI investigations without state consent. Locals accused him and his associates of land seizure and mistreatment of women. The CBI also issued notices to individuals associated with him regarding an attack on the Enforcement Directorate. The Calcutta High Court instructed the state to aid in the investigation.
