Justice Yashwant Varma’s impeachment process faced a setback after sources said the Rajya Sabha did not accept the motion related to the burnt cash case. Now, the government is expected to bring the motion in the Lok Sabha instead.

Kapil Sibal slammed the government for protecting Justice Yadav while targeting Justice Varma, saying, “The government clearly wants to save the judge.” He questioned why the same rules weren’t applied in both cases.
New Delhi: Chief Justice of India (CJI) Sanjiv Khanna on Thursday assured bar leaders that he would consider their request to cancel the recommendation for transferring Delhi High Court judge, Justice Yashwant Varma. This was confirmed by Anil Tiwari, President of the Allahabad High Court Bar Association.
