The Delhi High Court directed the government to finalize a Standard Operating Procedure (SOP) for bomb threats, especially in schools, following a related petition. The Court urged prompt implementation, clear roles for stakeholders, regular training, and a grievance mechanism, emphasizing the need for effective strategies to enhance safety within eight weeks.
On 17th May, The Delhi Police responded to bomb threat concerns in schools by deploying bomb disposal squads and detection teams, conducting 120 mock drills, and issuing comprehensive guidelines. They have a total of 5 bomb disposal squads and 18 bomb detection teams to cover over 4,600 schools. The Directorate of Education is also actively involved in promoting school safety.
