BMC Commissioner Bhushan Gagrani told the Bombay High Court he had made a “mistake” in seeking court staff for election duty, after criticism for exceeding authority. The Bench warned him to “save” himself and find manpower elsewhere as directed.
Today(on 25th April), The Bombay High Court addressed the issue of unauthorized hawkers taking over footpaths and public roads in Mumbai, emphasizing pedestrians’ rights to safe access. The court suggested exploring pop-up markets or mobile vending as solutions to balance the rights of street vendors and pedestrians. The court also urged the BMC to develop a protocol for temporary street vending while maintaining pedestrian safety.
