Today, On 14th May A female BJP worker, Piyali Das, surrendered in the Sandeshkhali case, accused of fabricating sexual assault complaints against TMC leaders. The court remanded her to judicial custody for coercing a woman into signing a blank paper. The case raised doubts about the authenticity of the movement, initially a protest against land grabbing, turning into allegations of sexual atrocities committed by TMC leaders.
The Madhya Pradesh High Court Today (April 4th) stayed a special court’s order for the issuance of bailable warrants against former chief minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan and state BJP president V D Sharma in a criminal defamation case.
Former Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan, state BJP chief V D Sharma, and former state minister Bhupendra Singh have been issued a bailable warrant by a court in Jabalpur. This comes after they did not furnish undertakings in a criminal defamation case filed against them. The complaint was lodged by Congress leader and Rajya Sabha member Vivek Tankha.
