Today, On 3rd June, The Calcutta High Court granted interim protection to BJP Lok Sabha candidates Rekha Patra and Pranat Tudu, providing relief from potential arrest or legal action amidst ongoing political tensions in West Bengal. The court’s decision aims to ensure their participation in the vote counting process without interference from pending police cases, with respective protection granted until July 5 and June 21.
Today (3rd June): Two BJP candidates, Pranat Tudu and Rekha Patra, along with party workers, approached the Calcutta High Court to address alleged false police complaints hindering their participation in vote counting for the Lok Sabha election. The court scheduled a hearing and also received petitions from BJP workers identifying themselves as party counting agents. The BJP has requested re-elections in 412 polling booths, alleging widespread election malpractices, and criticized the ruling Trinamool Congress for favoring tactics that led to clashes and injuries.
On Friday (29th March): Rekha Patra, BJP candidate, filed a complaint against TMC nominee Debangshu Bhattacharyya for sharing her private information on social media. The NCW and SC were approached. TMC and NCW officials engaged in a heated exchange over the issue. Patra’s lawyer emphasized her challenges and activism for women’s rights.
