Today, On 30th April, In the Badlapur accused encounter case, the Bombay High Court strongly criticised the Special Investigation Team (SIT) for not filing FIRs against five policemen, calling it a “very sorry state of affairs” and questioning the fairness and seriousness of the probe.
Today, On 25th April, The Bombay High Court slammed the state government for not registering an FIR against police officers in the Badlapur accused encounter case, calling it a “brazen violation of our order.” The Court warned that criminal contempt proceedings would be initiated if the case papers were not transferred immediately.
Today, On 7th April, The Bombay High Court ordered a Special Investigation Team (SIT) probe into the Badlapur encounter case. After the verdict, Special Public Prosecutor Amit Desai requested a two-week stay to move the Supreme Court. However, the court refused to grant the stay. The SIT will now begin its investigation without delay.
The Bombay High Court has recommended criminal charges against five Thane police officers related to the custodial death of Akshay Shinde. An inquiry report deemed the police’s use of force unjustifiable, suggesting that Shinde’s death was avoidable. The case has been referred to the Criminal Investigation Department for further investigation and accountability.

Today, On 2nd December, The Bombay High Court criticized the CID for its negligent investigation into the murder of Akshay Shinde, an accused in a sexual assault case. The Bombay High Court Today (Oct 1) denied anticipatory bail to the chairman and secretary of the Badlapur school where two minor girls aged fours years were sexually assaulted by a contract worker. Single-judge Justice RN Laddha passed the order after the two accused moved the High Court against a sessions court order. Court took into account the tender age of the victims, their trauma and also noted that the accused could tamper with evidence or pressurise witnesses.
Today, On 1st October, The Bombay High Court criticized the Special Investigation Team (SIT) for not arresting the accused school trustees in the Badlapur case. The court expressed dissatisfaction with the lack of progress in apprehending the suspects, despite the severity of the allegations. The trustees are accused of mismanagement and other serious offenses.

The father of the accused in the Badlapur sexual assault case, who was killed in an alleged police shootout earlier this week, Today (Sept 27) moved the Bombay High Court seeking a burial spot for his son. The father’s advocate mentioned the application before a division bench of Justices Revati Mohite Dere and M M Sathaye seeking urgent intervention.
Two days after Badlapur sex assault accused Akshay Shinde was shot dead in custody, the Bombay High Court Today (Sept 25) asked tough questions to police about the circumstances leading to the 24-year-old’s death. The court was hearing a petition by Shinde’s father, who has alleged that his son was killed in a fake encounter and has demanded a probe by a Special Investigation Team.
