The chairman and secretary of a Badlapur school have sought pre-arrest bail from the Bombay High Court after being charged under the POCSO Act for failing to report a sexual assault on two girls. Their request follows a denial of anticipatory bail by a special court, with the hearing scheduled for October 1.
The main accused in the Badlapur sexual assault case, Akshay Shinde, has been remanded to 14 days of judicial custody today. The school’s principal, president, and secretary have also been arrested in connection with the case. The Maharashtra government has set up a special investigation team to handle the case, while the Education Minister has proposed enhanced safety measures in schools and hostels.
