The Karnataka High Court bench led by Justice M I Arun has reserved its verdict on former Chief Minister B S Yediyurappa’s plea challenging the cognisance of a POCSO case registered against him, keeping the much-awaited decision pending for now.
Bengaluru: A special court in Bengaluru has once again taken cognisance of a chargesheet filed by the Karnataka CID police against former Karnataka Chief Minister and senior BJP leader B S Yediyurappa in a Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act case. The case was registered in March 2024.
On Sunday(16th June), Former Jammu and Kashmir CM Mehbooba Mufti criticized Karnataka High Court’s decision to stay BJP leader B S Yediyurappa’s arrest in a POCSO case, citing selective justice. Mufti highlighted contrasts in treatment of political figures across parties and expressed concerns about influence on legal actions. Yediyurappa faces allegations of sexual assault against a minor, with the case sparking significant public interest and debate.
