NEW DELHI: The Supreme Court of India on Wednesday (29th Jan) directed hospitals, including AIIMS New Delhi, to regularise the period of absence of doctors who had participated in protests against the rape and murder of a trainee doctor at RG Kar Hospital in Kolkata. The decision came after a doctors’ association pointed out that while some hospitals had regularised the absence based on an earlier court order, others, including AIIMS Delhi, were treating it as leave.
Kolkata: The elder sister of Sanjay Roy, the man convicted in the RG Kar rape-murder case, revealed on Saturday that the family does not plan to challenge the court’s guilty verdict. The decision was delivered by a Kolkata court, which found Sanjay Roy guilty of the rape and murder of a postgraduate trainee doctor.
Senior advocate Vrinda Grover has stepped down from representing the family of the R.G. Kar Medical College rape-murder victim due to unforeseen circumstances. Her legal team provided pro bono support since September 2024 in various courts. The case, involving the tragic death of a trainee doctor, is now under CBI investigation.
