Kolkata: The verdict in the rape and murder case of an on-duty doctor at RG Kar Medical College and Hospital, which occurred in August last year, is set to be delivered on January 18 by the designated judge of the Sealdah court, according to a PTI report.
The Supreme Court today took up the RG Kar Rape-Murder case suo motu, with a bench led by Chief Justice DY Chandrachud. The CBI presented its status report while Solicitor General Tushar Mehta and advocate Kapil Sibal represented the central agency and West Bengal government, respectively. The case involves widespread protests and calls for increased protection for medical professionals.
