Today, On 25th October, the Bombay High Court ordered the release of seized artworks by F N Souza and Akbar Padamsee, previously confiscated on obscenity grounds. The Madurai Bench of the Madras High Court ruled in favor of Muslim policemen, allowing them to maintain trimmed beards while on duty, respecting their religious practices. The court emphasized the need to balance individual rights with police force uniformity. The decision annulled a constable’s punishment for maintaining a beard, highlighting respect for diversity in religious practices in India.
