The Delhi High Court Today (Jan 24) declined to order a special assembly session for tabling CAG audit reports on alleged irregularities by the Aam Aadmi Party government. Opposition leaders claim the reports reveal a ₹2,027 crore excise policy loss, citing improper licensing and price manipulation. The AAP denies the existence of the reports, while the court flagged delays and questioned the government’s intentions.
The court upheld the decision not to disqualify Congress MLAs who joined the BJP in 2022. On November 1 last year, Assembly Speaker Ramesh Tawadkar dismissed the disqualification plea against eight MLAs: Digambar Kamat, Aleixo Sequeira, Sankalp Amonkar, Michael Lobo, Delilah Lobo, Kedar Naik, Rudolf Fernandes, and Rajesh Faldesai. The plea sought action against them under anti-defection laws. However, the Speaker ruled in their favor, allowing them to retain their positions despite switching parties.
The Delhi High Court Today (Jan 13) criticized the AAP-led Delhi government for delaying actions on the Comptroller and Auditor General (CAG) report. Justice Sachin Datta stated, “The way you have dragged your feet raises doubts about your bona fides,” urging the government to have promptly forwarded the report to the Speaker and initiated a discussion in the Assembly.
Seven BJP MLAs Today (Dec 23) approached the Delhi High Court seeking tabling of 14 Comptroller and Auditor General (CAG) reports pertaining to the city administration before the assembly. The matter was mentioned by the senior counsel for the petitioners before a bench of Acting Chief Justice Vibhu Bakhru and Justice Tushar Rao Gedela which directed that it be listed for hearing in the “normal course”.

Justice Sanjeev Narula on Monday deferred hearing on the petition while noting that the pleadings in the case were not yet complete.

The Central government Today (Oct 3) informed the Supreme Court that the prohibitory order issued by the Delhi Police under Section 163 of the Bharatiya Nagarik Suraksha Sanhita (BNSS), which barred the assembly of five or more people in the national capital from September 30 to October 5, had been withdrawn. A Bench led by CJI Chandrachud recorded SG Tushar Mehta’s submission regarding the withdrawal of the order.
