Today, On 1st September, The Supreme Court today rescheduled the hearing on the West Bengal Vice Chancellors’ appointment matter to September 22, earlier fixed for September 26, to formalise resolved issues and set a date for remaining points in dispute.

Lalit to oversee the Search Committees and resolve the ongoing controversy over 35 state university appointments. Earlier in November, the Supreme Court chose not to interfere in the appointment of vice-chancellors. This was after learning that a committee led by former Justice U.U. Lalit had already submitted its recommendations to the West Bengal Chief Minister-Mamata Banerjee.

[BREAKING] “Will Appoint Special Prosecutor to Conduct Trial”: SC in 2015 Cash-For-Vote Scam Case of Telangana CM-Revanth Reddy

The Supreme Court Today (Aug 29) orally said it would appoint a Special Prosecutor for the trial in the 2015 cash-for-vote scam case in which Telangana Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy is involved. A Bench headed by Justice BR Gavai observed it would pass a formal order at 2 p.m. after consultations with the Telangana judiciary. The Bench was hearing a petition filed by BRS MLA Guntakandla Jagadish Reddy seeking a transfer of the trial from Telangana to another State.
