The Supreme Court raised concerns over Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu’s public statements regarding alleged adulteration in the ghee used for temple offerings, warning about the risks of mixing religion and politics.
Today, On 1st October, the Andhra Pradesh government paused the SIT investigation into the Tirupati laddu controversy, following a Supreme Court order amid concerns over public allegations of adulteration. The stay lasts until the next hearing on October 3, aimed at preserving the investigation’s integrity, as emphasized by the court’s response.
Law Minister Arjun Ram Meghwal stated that the BJP plans to consult with its allies before implementing the Uniform Civil Code (UCC), one of its core promises. The UCC aims to create a uniform legal framework for all citizens regarding personal laws. Some NDA allies have called for broader discussions and consensus before finalizing the law.
The AP government informed the Supreme Court that former Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu’s family is threatening officials giving statements against him. Senior Advocate Rohatgi expressed concern over the threats, citing the impending State elections. Naidu has two weeks to respond, with the case set for further hearing on March 19. The State government challenged the bail granted to Naidu.
