The court warned that delayed justice could make people lose faith in the legal system. It has asked the authorities to conduct a fair and fast investigation into the matter.
A Kolkata court today approved 8 days of custody for ex-Principal Sandip Ghosh in a corruption case, short of the 10 days requested by the CBI. Ghosh was arrested for financial misconduct related to RG Kar Medical College. The investigation also involves alleged corruption and misuse of resources at the institution.

The case, involving a doctor’s rape and murder, has gained national attention, prompting the Supreme Court to intervene and transfer the investigation to the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI). The Indian Medical Association (IMA) has called for a 24-hour strike in response.
