This case was filed soon after the rape and murder of a junior doctor at the hospital, which shocked the entire country. The court warned that delayed justice could make people lose faith in the legal system. It has asked the authorities to conduct a fair and fast investigation into the matter.
A Kolkata court today approved 8 days of custody for ex-Principal Sandip Ghosh in a corruption case, short of the 10 days requested by the CBI. Ghosh was arrested for financial misconduct related to RG Kar Medical College. The investigation also involves alleged corruption and misuse of resources at the institution.
