Chennai, May 22, 2025 — The Advocate General (AG) of Tamil Nadu, PS Raman, has assured the Madras High Court that he will advise the State government not to close over 40 FIRs (First Information Reports) related to the TASMAC scam, at least for the time being. This assurance came while the court was hearing a public interest litigation (PIL) seeking a CBI investigation into the alleged Rs.1,000 crore TASMAC scam.
NEW DELHI: On February 14, 2025, the Supreme Court of India expressed its disapproval towards the Tamil Nadu Pollution Control Board (TNPCB) for taking two years to approach the court regarding a Madras High Court decision. This decision had quashed a showcause notice against the Isha Foundation for constructing multiple buildings between 2006 and 2014.
The Supreme Court today stayed a Madras High Court judgment that reinstated corruption cases against Tamil Nadu Ministers KKSSR Ramachandran and Thangam Thenarasu. The Court issued a notice to the State and other respondents, instructing them to submit their replies within four weeks. The High Court’s single-judge initiated criminal revision proceedings following allegations of disproportionate assets.
Madras High Court advised Tamil Nadu State Government to broadcast legislative sessions with a slight delay, ensuring transparency and maintaining decorum, balancing public access and assembly dignity.
