Prayagraj, Uttar Pradesh, February 24 – The Allahabad High Court has postponed the hearing of a petition seeking an additional survey of the Gyanvapi mosque in Varanasi by the Archaeological Survey of India (ASI). The decision to adjourn the case was taken in light of a directive from the Supreme Court, which has instructed courts across India not to issue any orders related to lawsuits concerning religious places.
The massive traffic jams due to the ongoing Kumbh Mela in Uttar Pradesh have disrupted court proceedings at the Allahabad High Court. Several cases, including journalist Mohammad Zubair’s plea, were adjourned as lawyers and parties struggled to reach the court. Despite video conferencing options, hearings continue to be postponed, with interim relief granted in some cases. The Supreme Court on Wednesday (18th Dec) has adjourned Surendra Gadling’s bail plea in the 2016 Surjagarh iron ore mine arson case until January due to his counsel’s request for more time to review the state’s reply. Gadling faces serious charges, including those under the Unlawful Activities Prevention Act, related to alleged Maoist connections.
On Friday(7th June),The High Court of Karnataka has issued notices to Bengaluru’s High Grounds police and Ramesh Babu of KPCC following a petition by BJP’s J.P. Nadda and Amit Malviya. The lawsuit alleges that CBI conducted investigations without state consent.
