The Centre has notified the appointment of Justice PB Bajanthri as the new Chief Justice of Patna High Court. The Supreme Court Collegium had recommended his name for the position earlier on September 11, 2025.
Mumbai, March 13– The Bombay High Court on Thursday ruled that Pushpa Ganediwala, former High Court judge, is entitled to receive pension equivalent to that of a High Court judge. This comes after her demotion and resignation following controversial judgments related to the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act.
Justice Ashutosh Kumar has been appointed as the Acting Chief Justice of the Patna High Court, succeeding Chief Justice KV Chandran. Justice Kumar, who began his legal career in 1991, has an impressive academic background, graduating from St. Stephen’s College and obtaining an LL.B. from Delhi University, becoming a permanent judge in 2016.
Justice Brar’s name was first recommended by the Supreme Court Collegium for appointment as a judge in July 2022. Justice Manoj Misra, born on June 2, 1965, graduated from the University of Allahabad in 1988 and began his legal career at the Allahabad High Court. After 23 years in practice, he became an Additional Judge in 2011 and a Permanent Judge in 2013. He was appointed as a Supreme Court Judge on February 6, 2023.

He completed his education in Commerce and Law, began his career in his father’s law office, and has held significant positions, including Chief Justice of the Manipur High Court.
Today, On 11th June, Justice Rajesh Sekhri granted a one-year extension as an additional judge of the Jammu & Kashmir High Court, following a recommendation by the Supreme Court Collegium on May 17. The decision, effective from July 29, 2024, ensures continuity in the judiciary of Jammu & Kashmir. The Central Government announced this extension via a tweet by Law Minister Arjun Ram Meghwal.
