On Wednesday (10th April): The Punjab government informed the Supreme Court that it will temporarily suspend the trial of Congress MLA Sukhpal Singh Khaira in a 2015 drug case. Khaira filed a plea challenging his arrest, which was initially deemed lawful. The court adjourned the matter for four weeks, with the government assuring that the trial will not proceed until the next hearing.
The Supreme Court today(on 5th April), issued a notice to the Delhi Jal Board following a plea from the AAP government, citing the finance department’s withholding of approved funds. The bench instructed the release of pending funds, seeking clarification on the matter. The next hearing is scheduled for April 10. The plea alleges a substantial pending sum of Rs 1,927 crore.
