Today, On 10th March, The Delhi High Court dismissed unnecessary delays in AAP leader Somnath Bharti’s plea challenging BJP MP Bansuri Swaraj’s election, stating, “This isn’t a post office; we can’t waste judicial time.” Bharti has alleged electoral malpractices and sought a review of the 2024 Lok Sabha election results. The court emphasized the need for substantial grounds in election petitions. Further hearings will determine the case’s merit.

The Supreme Court annulled a Rs.1 lakh fine imposed on advocate Mehmood Pracha by the Allahabad High Court, which criticized him for “forum shopping” and attire while representing himself. Pracha’s plea was dismissed by the High Court, deemed to waste the court’s time. The Supreme Court found no basis for the fine.
The Delhi High Court ordered the removal of defamatory tweets targeting ‘The New Indian’ and its Editor-in-Chief by ‘4 PM Evening Newspaper.’ The court found bias against the ruling establishment in these tweets and emphasized the importance of unbiased journalism. The injunction prohibits further defamatory content and is scheduled for further hearing on October 29, 2024.
Today, On 25th July, The Lok Sabha session on 25th July saw BJP MP Abhijit Gangopadhyay’s remarks about Gaurav Gogoi spark uproar, leading to a warning for Gangopadhyay. Kiren Rijiju stressed that such comments shouldn’t be made, and Speaker Om Birla urged members to uphold the House’s dignity. Gangopadhyay, a former high court judge, had his controversial remarks expunged.
