NEW DELHI: Today, 3rd Feb, Dera Sacha Sauda chief Gurmeet Ram Rahim has filed a petition in the Supreme Court to lift the stay imposed on the trial in the 2015 sacrilege cases. This trial involves incidents of desecration of the Guru Granth Sahib in Punjab. The stay had been issued by the Punjab and Haryana High Court, halting the legal proceedings. Ram Rahim is seeking the vacation of this stay.
Satyendar Jain, former Delhi minister and AAP leader, faces prosecution by the CBI for allegedly acquiring disproportionate assets of Rs1.62 crore during his public service from 2015 to 2017. The Supreme Court has directed on 29th May, the CBI to provide witness statements to the prime accused, Kalyani Singh, within two weeks. Kalyani is involved in the Sippy Sidhu murder case, where she allegedly murdered the national-level shooter. Kalyani’s appeal for access to specific documents from the CBI was granted by the Court.
