NEW DELHI: The Supreme Court of India will hold a two-day National Conference of the District Judiciary on August 31 and September 1, 2024. Over 800 participants from district judiciaries across all States and Union Territories will attend the event.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi will inaugurate the conference at Bharat Mandapam and unveil a commemorative coin and postal stamp celebrating 75 years of the Supreme Court. The ceremony will also feature Arjun Ram Meghwal, Minister of State for Law and Justice, and other dignitaries.
“On 31st August, around 10 AM, I will inaugurate the National Conference of District Judiciary at Bharat Mandapam. Additionally, a special stamp and coin commemorating 75 years of the Supreme Court of India will be unveiled during the event,”
PM Modi posted on X.
On September 1, President Draupadi Murmu will deliver the valedictory address and unveil the Supreme Court’s flag and insignia.
Guided by Chief Justice DY Chandrachud, the conference will include six sessions spread over the two days. Key topics will include:
- Infrastructure and Human Resources: Enhancing district judiciary infrastructure and workforce.
- Courtrooms for All: Ensuring accessibility and inclusivity in the judiciary for marginalized communities.
- Judicial Security and Wellness: Addressing judge safety and well-being initiatives.
- Case Management: Strategies for efficient case handling and reducing case backlog.
- Judicial Training – Curriculum and Methods: Improving training programs for judges.
- Bridging the Gap: Exploring support from High Courts and the Supreme Court for district judiciary needs.

Supreme Court judges, High Court Chief Justices, and other senior officials will participate. The conference aims to foster dialogue among judiciary stakeholders to address district judiciary challenges and enhance justice delivery in India.
