New Delhi, April 26 – On Saturday, the Supreme Court of India announced that several of its digital services were affected due to a disruption in the National Government Cloud (NGC), a digital infrastructure maintained by the National Informatics Centre (NIC). In an official notice, the Supreme Court shared that important online platforms managed by its Registry were temporarily down. These include the Supreme Court website, the e-Filing system, Supreme Court Reports (SCR), and DigiSCR portals.
Quoting the official communication, the Supreme Court said,
“Due to disruption in National Government Cloud (NGC), since early morning, various information communication technology-based services provided by the Registry, such as website, e-Filing, SCR and DigiSCR portals are adversely effected,” the statement read.
The Court further assured the public that technical teams are actively working to bring services back online at the earliest.
“We regret for the inconvenience caused, if any. We deeply appreciate your patience, understanding and cooperation,” the apex court added.
What Is the National Government Cloud (NGC)?
The National Government Cloud, managed by the National Informatics Centre (NIC), is a special cloud platform created exclusively for government use. It provides access to both public and private cloud services through a unified portal. Government departments and agencies, including the judiciary, use NGC for storing, processing, and managing data securely.

NGC offers services like computing power, data storage, Kubernetes, database management, and networking—all hosted within a highly secured NIC data centre. This cloud infrastructure supports the government’s push for digital transformation and secure information sharing.
The Supreme Court Registry has adopted advanced cloud infrastructure to support its digitisation and digital preservation goals. One such initiative is the National Judicial Data Grid (NJDG), which works as a centralised platform for storing and retrieving court data from across the country.
In addition, eCourt services enable citizens, lawyers, and litigants to check case statuses, hearing dates, and judgments online, thereby making the judicial system more transparent and accessible.
Digital Supreme Court Reports (DigiSCR) is another major project that reflects the use of technology in legal knowledge sharing. Through this platform, judgments are made available in both traditional volume-based formats and in easy-to-read HTML formats. This ensures greater access, better search options, and free availability of Supreme Court judgments for everyone, especially for students, lawyers, researchers, and those interested in law.
