New Delhi: Today (May 31st): The Supreme Court vacation bench will hear a petition filed by the RJD candidate seeking an order for the Election Commission of India to conduct re-polling at 45 booths in the Lukhisarai, Mokama, and Suryagarha assembly constituencies within Bihar’s Munger Lok Sabha seat.

The petition alleges “serious manipulation, booth capturing, and rigging by JD (U) workers with the help of officials.”

RJD candidate Kumari Anita, represented by SC advocate Aljo K. Joseph, claimed in her petition that despite timely complaints to relevant officials, including Election Commission observers and District Election Officer Avnish Kumar Singh,no action has been taken“.

She further alleged that after filing the complaints, she was “brutally manhandled and suffered serious injury.”

The petition will be heard by a Supreme Court bench consisting of Justices Satish Chandra Sharma and P B Varale. The petition states,

“When the petitioner protested against the conduct of officials and JD (U) followers, she was brutally manhandled and suffered serious injury. As a woman, she was unable to do much at that moment, but she filed detailed police complaints and informed all relevant authorities, including the Chief Election Officer of Bihar, the District Election Officer of Munger, and the observers appointed by the Election Commission of India.”

The petition further asserts that despite serious complaints and FIRs registered on May 13, 2024, at Munger Parliament Constituency (28) in Bihar, the conduct of District Election Officer Avnish Kumar Singh remained biased.

Aggrieved by the alleged massive rigging and manipulation, the petitioner visited the District Magistrate on May 14, 2024, and submitted multiple complaints. Despite assurances to address the issues, no action was taken.

The petition seeks the removal of DM Avnish Kumar Singh from all administrative responsibilities and requests the Election Commission of India to ensure a free and fair re-election in the Munger Parliament constituency in Bihar.
