Today, On 25th October, the Supreme Court dismissed the CBI’s petition to reinstate the lookout circular (LOC) against Rhea Chakraborty, calling the plea “frivolous.” This ruling provides substantial relief to the actor, with the Court noting that both Rhea and her family are well-rooted in society. New Delhi: The Supreme Court provided relief to actor Rhea Chakraborty and her family by upholding the Bombay High Court’s decision to revoke the CBI’s lookout circular issued against them after the death of Sushant Singh Rajput.

The top court rejected the petition from the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI), the State of Maharashtra, and the Bureau of Immigration, which aimed to challenge the Bombay High Court’s decision to quash the Look-out Circulars (LOCs) issued against actress Rhea Chakraborty, her brother Showik, and their father, an army veteran.

A bench comprising Justices B.R. Gavai and K.V. Viswanathan remarked that the petition was “frivolous” and suggested it was filed solely due to the high-profile status of the accused.

When the CBI’s counsel requested a pass over, Justice Gavai cautioned, saying,

“We are warning you. Filing such a frivolous petition simply because one of the accused is a high-profile individual… It will come with exemplary costs. Both individuals are well-rooted in society.”

He added,

“If you want costs and some compliments to the CBI, we’ll pass over.”

Justice Viswanathan then remarked with surprise,

“You issue a LOC for this!”

The case ultimately dismissed.

In September 2020, Rhea Chakraborty arrested by the Narcotics Control Bureau (NCB) in relation to the drug-related elements of Sushant Singh Rajput’s case.

Sushant, 34, was discovered deceased in his Bandra apartment on June 14, leading to investigations by both the Mumbai and Bihar Police, initiated after a complaint from his father, Krishna Kishore Singh, who resides in Patna.

Sushant began his career in television with shows such as “Kis Desh Mein Hai Meraa Dil” and rose to prominence for his role in Ekta Kapoor’s “Pavitra Rishta.” He later made a successful transition to film, featuring in popular movies like “Kai Po Che,” “MS Dhoni: The Untold Story,” Shuddh Desi Romance,” “Detective Byomkesh Bakshy!,” “Chhichhore,” and “Dil Bechara.”

His most notable success was “MS Dhoni: The Untold Story.” Sushant’s last film, “Dil Bechara,” which co-starred Sanjana Sanghi, was released on an OTT platform and was an official adaptation of “The Fault in Our Stars.”
