Union Minister Dharmendra Pradhan commended the Supreme Court’s decision on NEET, referring to it as a victory for truth. In response, he announced the formation of a high-level panel aimed at revamping the National Testing Agency (NTA).

New Delhi: Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan announced the formation of a high-level committee by the Centre to revamp the National Testing Agency (NTA) following allegations of irregularities in the NEET-UG 2024 examination.

Pradhan declared during a press briefing on Tuesday evening,

“We have assured the Supreme Court that our government is dedicated to establishing a transparent, tamper-proof, and error-free examination system. To uphold this commitment, we have formed a high-level committee for a comprehensive overhaul of the NTA,”

He further revealed that the committee already consulted experts and reviewed various models, with plans to submit a detailed report shortly.

The education minister added,

“I want to assure the youth and students of the country that we are dedicated to making the NTA error-free,”

In addressing accountability concerns, Pradhan stressed that strict legal action will be taken against those responsible for the irregularities.

The Union minister asserted,

“Anyone involved in these irregularities will face severe legal consequences. The CBI is actively investigating the matter,”

Following the Supreme Court‘s dismissal of petitions for a re-test of the NEET-UG 2024 exam amid allegations of paper leaks, Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan held a press conference.

The court found no evidence of systemic question paper leaks or malpractices and upheld the exam results.

Chief Justice of India D.Y. Chandrachud, who led the bench, stated,

“There is an absence of material to conclude that the result of the NEET-UG 2024 exam is vitiated or there is a systemic breach,”

In the press conference, Minister Pradhan praised the Supreme Court’s decision and announced that the final results of the medical entrance exam would be declared within two days.

Welcoming the court’s ruling, Pradhan remarked,

“‘Satyamev Jayate’. Truth has prevailed,”

He added that the NTA would soon release the final results for NEET-UG and adjust the merit list based on the Supreme Court‘s observations.

In a social media post on X, Dharmendra Pradhan called on Congress leader Rahul Gandhi to apologize for politicizing the NEET issue and manipulating the emotions of countless students.

Pradhan wrote,

“The judgement will open the eyes of those who undermined the Indian examination system and exploited this situation for their own interests, aiming for political gain and inciting ‘civil unrest and anarchy’,”

He further stated,

“Shri @RahulGandhi should apologize for toying with the sentiments of lakhs of students and their parents, as well as for attempting to gain political mileage from it.”

The announcement highlights the government’s commitment to continually improving the educational framework and ensuring that the processes governing crucial entrance examinations are robust and equitable. Pradhan’s proactive steps aim to install greater confidence in the system among aspirants and stakeholders, reaffirming the central principle of justice and meritocracy in India’s educational landscape.
