Security agencies have released the names and images of four men suspected to be behind the April 22 terror attack in Pahalgam.

NEW DELHI: In a big revelation before the Supreme Court, the National Investigation Agency (NIA) has connected the recent Pahalgam terror attack in Jammu and Kashmir to a narco-terror strategy planned by Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT), with support from Pakistan’s Inter-Services Intelligence (ISI).

According to a Times of India report, the NIA explained that LeT is using drug trafficking to make money for its terror plans and to destroy India’s peace by targeting the youth with narcotics.

The NIA informed a bench of Justices Surya Kant and N Kotiswar Singh that a huge consignment of heroin—about 3,000 kg worth Rs. 21,000 crore—was seized from Mundra port.

This heroin was part of Lashkar-e-Taiba’s plan. It was smuggled from Afghanistan through Iran and was hidden as talc powder. All the documents used to bring it into India were legally valid.

Additional Solicitor General Aishwarya Bhati highlighted the group’s deadly intentions by saying:
“Look what they did to India at Pahalgam by shooting innocent tourists.”

In its affidavit, the NIA explained that the narcotics were passed through Iranian agents and stored in two places in Delhi—Neb Sarai and Alipur. The money made from selling these drugs was then used to support terrorist operations in India.

The agency further added:
“This case is a case of largest intercepted consignment of narco-substance being brought to India through illicit means, which was to be used, not only, to wreak a havoc among public (which was the targeted user of the said narco-product) but also, to use the sale proceeds to fund terrorism.”

Security agencies have released the names and images of four men suspected to be behind the April 22 terror attack in Pahalgam. The attackers have been identified as Aadil Guree, Aasif Shaikh, Suleman Shah, and Abu Talha. Their code names were Moosa, Yunus, and Asif.

Sources say that two of them—Aadil Guree from Anantnag and Aasif Shaikh from Sopore—are suspected to be locals.

Earlier in the day, the authorities also released sketches of the suspects. A blurry image was shown on TV, showing a man carrying an AK-47. Although the image is not yet confirmed by officials, it matches what the survivors described: terrorists dressed in Indian Army uniforms.

The brutal incident happened around 1:30 PM at Baisaran meadow, a popular tourist destination near Pahalgam. Survivors shared that six foreign terrorists dressed in Army uniforms fired at the tourists after asking for their names and making them recite Islamic verses.

Eyewitnesses said the terrorists attacked people at very close range. It is believed that victims were chosen based on their religion.

Even though the area had several security checks and patrols, the attackers still managed to reach the spot and carry out the attack.

The Indian Army’s Chinar Corps confirmed this and said “The search operation is currently in progress, with all efforts focused on bringing the attackers to justice.”

On the same day, an attempt to enter Indian territory was also made along the Line of Control (LoC) in Baramulla district.

The Chinar Corps said in a post on X (formerly Twitter) “On 23 Apr 2025, approximately 2-3 UI terrorists tried to infiltrate through the general area Sarjeevan at Uri Nala, Baramulla (in north Kashmir).”

Indian soldiers immediately challenged the terrorists, which led to a gunfight. The operation is still ongoing.
