Today, On 20th November, The Supreme Court postponed the NEET PG 2024 hearing for the fourth time, rescheduling it to November 26, 2024. Aspirants have filed a petition demanding transparency in the release of the answer key, raw marks, and the normalisation method used for results. Concerns also include last-minute changes to the exam pattern and the absence of a standard operating procedure (SOP). The repeated delays have left candidates anxious and seeking clarity on their grievances.

New Delhi: The Supreme Court once again postponed the highly anticipated hearing on the NEET PG 2024 case, marking the fourth delay in recent months. Originally scheduled for today, the hearing will now occur on November 26, 2024.

This case centers on demands for greater transparency in the postgraduate medical entrance exam conducted by the National Board of Examinations (NBE), and the repeated delays have left many aspirants frustrated as they seek clarity on the examination process.

The matter brought to the Supreme Court by a group of NEET PG 2024 candidates who are requesting the release of the exam’s answer key, raw marks, and details regarding the normalization method used for calculating results. Despite their repeated appeals, the NBE has not complied, citing confidentiality as part of its admission policy.

Timeline of Events Leading to the Postponement

The case has been in progress since September 7, 2024, when it was first filed. The petitioners, consisting of 19 NEET PG candidates, expressed concerns about sudden changes to the exam pattern made just days before the test and the overall lack of transparency in the results processing.

Aspirants Demand Transparency in NEET PG Exam Process

The petitioners have raised several concerns regarding the fairness and transparency of the NEET PG exam. A primary issue is the sudden alteration in the exam pattern just days before the test, which the court described as “very unusual,” leading to uncertainty among candidates about the exam’s fairness. The petitioners are also questioning the normalization process used to standardize exam scores, particularly in light of the recent changes. They have requested access to their individual response sheets for verification and are calling for the release of the exam question papers and answer keys.

NBE’s Stance on Confidentiality

Despite the appeals from NEET PG candidates, the NBE has reiterated that exam content, including question papers and answer keys, will remain confidential. The Board defends this position by emphasizing the need to maintain the integrity of the examination process, asserting that this aligns with its admission policy.

The NEET PG 2024 results were announced on August 23, 2024, but the answer keys and raw scores have not been disclosed, further exacerbating concerns among aspirants.

Aspirants’ Growing Frustration

For many candidates, the delay in the Supreme Court’s decision has become a source of increasing frustration. The petitioners argue that without transparency in the examination process, ensuring fairness is challenging, especially for an exam as critical as NEET PG. They are also advocating for a Standard Operating Procedure (SOP) for future exams to prevent similar issues. While the case remains unresolved, the next hearing on November 26 holds promise for a resolution, with candidates hopeful for clarity and fairness in the NEET PG examination process.

The Supreme Court’s decision on that date will be closely watched by those seeking reassurance in the integrity of the exam.
