Today, On 21st April, The Supreme Court noted that the investigation against YouTuber Ranveer Allahbadia is complete. It has scheduled the hearing for his plea seeking the return of his passport on April 28.

New Delhi: The Supreme Court stated on Monday that the investigation concerning podcaster Ranveer Allahbadia is complete and scheduled a hearing for April 28 regarding his request for the return of his passport in light of controversial remarks made during a YouTube show.

On February 18, the court had granted Allahbadia protection from arrest in relation to multiple FIRs filed over his comments during a YouTube episode and instructed him to surrender his passport to the investigating officer at the Nodal Cyber Police Station in Thane.

A bench comprising Justices Surya Kant and N Kotiswar Singh indicated that they would review Allahbadia’s plea on April 28.

During the proceedings, Solicitor General Tushar Mehta, representing the police from Assam and Maharashtra, mentioned that in the FIR from Guwahati, the statement of a co-accused would be recorded, while the investigation related to the Mumbai FIR was complete, though a chargesheet had not yet been filed.

The bench acknowledged Mehta’s remarks and confirmed that the investigation concerning Allahbadia was concluded. On March 3, the Supreme Court permitted Allahbadia to continue his podcast, “The Ranveer Show,” with the stipulation that he maintain “morality and decency” and ensure it is appropriate for viewers of all ages.

Allahbadia, known as BeerBiceps, faced legal action for his comments about parents and sex made on comic Samay Raina’s YouTube show, “India’s Got Latent.”

Initially, the court had prohibited Allahbadia from airing any episodes of his podcast that could directly or indirectly affect the pending cases against him.

On February 18, the Supreme Court described Allahbadia’s comments as “vulgar,” noting that he had a “dirty mind” that brought shame to society. In addition to Allahbadia and Raina, the case in Assam includes other comedians such as Ashish Chanchlani, Jaspreet Singh, and Apoorva Makhija.

Earlier, Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma announced via X (formerly Twitter) that the Guwahati Police registered an FIR against several well-known YouTubers and social media influencers for allegedly promoting obscenity.

The accused include Ashish Chanchlani, Jaspreet Singh, Apoorva Makhija, Ranveer Allahbadia, and Samay Raina, among others.

The FIR filed against the influencers for engaging in sexually explicit and vulgar discussions in a show titled ‘India’s Got Latent.’
