Bail to Minor’s Rapist|  What are The Charges?: Supreme Court Issues Notice

NEW DELHI: The Supreme Court of India has issued a notice concerning the bail granted to an individual accused of sexually assaulting a minor, highlighting procedural concerns in sensitive cases under child protection laws.

During the hearing, the counsel representing the victim, who is also her father, told the court:

“The provisions of the Juvenile Justice Act, including whether the accused should be tried as an adult, were not followed. I was not given notice of the bail application or the hearing.”

The Chief Justice of India then asked,

“What are the charges?”

The counsel responded,

“Sexual assault and rape under the POCSO Act.”

Following this, the Supreme Court issued a notice to review the matter.
