A special MP/MLA court in Jabalpur issued notice to Rao Uday Pratap Singh over a plea alleging insult to the national flag during a Tiranga Yatra. D P Sutrakar sought response while considering a request for FIR.

JABALPUR: A special MP/MLA court in Jabalpur has issued a notice to Madhya Pradesh Minister Rao Uday Pratap Singh in response to a plea claiming he insulted the national flag during a ‘Tiranga Yatra’ in 2024.

Judicial Magistrate First Class (JMFC) D P Sutrakar recently served the notice to Singh while considering an application filed by Kaushal Silawat, who requested that the police be directed to file an FIR against the minister.

The petitioner alleged that the state transport minister improperly displayed the tricolor flag on the bonnet of a vehicle during the yatra held in Narsinghpur on August 11, 2024.

The BJP organized a series of ‘Tiranga Yatras’ leading up to Independence Day that year, encouraging citizens to showcase the tricolor at their homes and businesses.

Additionally, the petitioner provided an affidavit, photographs that supposedly depict the tricolor on the vehicle’s bonnet during the rally, and copies of complaints submitted to the Narsinghpur collector and the superintendent of police.
