A Maharashtra court summoned Minister Dhananjay Munde and other leaders from Ajit Pawar’s party following a suit filed by Sarangi Mahajan, widow of the late Pravin Mahajan. The complaint accuses Munde of alleged involvement in the unauthorized acquisition of land valued at Rs 2.72 crore. This legal action brings attention to allegations of land grabbing, further adding scrutiny to the minister’s dealings.

Mumbai: A court in Beed district, Maharashtra, summoned Dhananjay Munde, a leader of the Ajit Pawar-led Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) and Maharashtra Minister, along with four others in connection with a land dispute.

The case arises from allegations of land grabbing made by Sarangi Mahajan, the widow of the late Pravin Mahajan.

Munde, who is the nephew of the late BJP leader Gopinath Munde and serves as the Guardian Minister for Beed district, is among those accused, along with several alleged associates identified as his employees. The lawsuit, filed by Sarangi Mahajan and her two children, pertains to a 1.5-acre plot located in Jirewadi village, Parli Taluka.

The Mahajan family asserts that Pravin Mahajan acquired the land in Jirewadi due to his strong connections with leaders from both the BJP and Congress.

They allege that Dhananjay Munde used intimidation tactics and hired goons to coerce them into a fraudulent sale of the property, claiming that an agreement forged on June 6, 2022. According to the Mahajan family, a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) was established, stipulating that Munde would pay a total of Rs 2.72 crore.

However, the family contends that they were forced to sell the land to three individuals Govind Munde, Tanaji Chate, and Pallavi Gitte receiving only Rs 21 lakh in return. This transaction allegedly took place after Dhananjay Munde threatened the Mahajan family.

Furthermore, they claim that the disputed sale deed was designed to secure government compensation exceeding Rs 3 crore, as part of the land was earmarked for highway construction.

The court in Ambejogai, where Sarangi Mahajan has filed her suit, has issued notices and summons to all parties involved, including Dhananjay Munde.

The next hearing scheduled for November 28.

The court’s decision to summon Munde and other NCP leaders marks an important step in the judicial proceedings, with the next hearing expected to shed light on the nature of the accusations and the evidence provided by Mahajan. This case could have implications for the public perception of NCP’s handling of land disputes, especially in rural areas where issues of land ownership and government compensation remain sensitive and contentious.

As the court proceedings continue, the case highlights the complexities of land rights, the influence of political figures in land acquisition, and the broader implications for transparency and accountability in Maharashtra’s political landscape.

This issue, now under judicial examination, will be closely monitored by the public and may influence the course of political discourse in the state.
