DELHI: Today(on 26th June), Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal, who was arrested by the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) in connection with the controversial liquor policy case, experienced a health scare during the court proceedings. Kejriwal’s arrest has been a significant development in the ongoing investigation into the alleged irregularities in the Delhi government’s liquor policy.
During the proceedings at Delhi’s Rouse Avenue court, Chief Minister Kejriwal addressed the judge, voicing his discomfort due to a low sugar level.
He stated-
“My blood sugar is dropping below normal levels.”
This expression of concern highlighted his immediate need for medical attention, which added an unexpected turn to the day’s events.
Recognizing the urgency of the situation, the court promptly granted his request for a brief respite. The judge allowed Kejriwal to be taken to an adjoining room where he could be provided with something to eat to stabilize his sugar levels. This decision underscored the court’s consideration for the health and well-being of individuals, even those under arrest.
In the adjoining room, Kejriwal was given tea and biscuits to help normalize his blood sugar levels. This quick intervention proved effective, allowing him to regain his composure and return to the courtroom to continue the proceedings. The Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) chief’s momentary absence from the courtroom was a clear indication of the physical strain the situation was imposing on him.

The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) has arrested Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal after Special Judge Amitabh Rawat granted the agency permission to do so. The CBI’s application was moved following Kejriwal’s production before the court from Tihar Central Jail, where he is currently held in connection with a money laundering case linked to the now-scrapped Delhi excise policy.
Kejriwal’s arrest by the Enforcement Directorate (ED) on March 21, 2024, had already stirred political and public discourse. The Chief Minister’s health became a focal point shortly after his arrest. As a diabetic, Kejriwal experienced a significant spike in his blood sugar levels, raising concerns among his party members and supporters about his well-being.
“He is not only a political figure but also a patient in need of regular medical care.”

“Despite multiple requests, insulin was not administered until a court order was issued.”

They claimed that Kejriwal’s health concerns were being neglected intentionally to gain political leverage.
The BJP, however, refuted these allegations vehemently.
“There is no question of compromising anyone’s health for political advantage. These allegations are unfounded and aimed at deflecting attention from the legal proceedings.”
