Industrialist Anil Ambani appeared before the CBI for questioning in a major loan fraud case linked to SBI and Reliance Communications. The probe focuses on alleged diversion and misuse of bank funds as scrutiny intensifies.

Industrialist Anil Ambani appeared before the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) on Thursday in connection with an alleged bank fraud case related to the now-defunct Reliance Communications. The development marks a significant step in the ongoing investigation into financial irregularities involving one of India’s once-prominent telecom companies.
According to reports, Ambani reached the CBI headquarters in the morning and is expected to be questioned over a span of two days, March 19 and March 20. The case has been registered based on a complaint filed by the State Bank of India (SBI), which is part of a larger consortium of banks that had extended substantial loans to Reliance Communications.
The probe is focused on allegations of diversion and misuse of loan funds. Investigating officials are examining whether the funds provided by SBI and other banks were used for purposes other than those for which they were sanctioned. Reliance Communications, which was once a major player in India’s telecom sector, later faced severe financial difficulties and eventually became defunct.
Ambani’s appearance before the CBI comes shortly after his eldest son, Jai Anmol Ambani, was also questioned by authorities in connection with a separate bank fraud case. Officials revealed that Jai Anmol Ambani was interrogated for more than six hours as part of that investigation.

The back-to-back questioning of key members of the Ambani family indicates that investigative agencies are intensifying scrutiny into financial dealings linked to Reliance Communications and related entities. The outcome of the questioning may play a crucial role in determining the direction of the case and whether further legal action will be initiated.
As of now, the investigation remains ongoing, and no official conclusions have been announced by the CBI.
