Today, On 19th July, A first-year law student in Prayagraj arrested for threatening to bomb Yogi Adityanath. During interrogation, the student confessed to posting the threat on the microblogging platform X in a bid to gain fame. He revealed that he got the idea from watching YouTube videos.
Prayagraj : The Prayagraj Police on Friday arrested a man for threatening Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath, claiming he would bomb the CM within five days. This alarming case emerged in Sangam City, Prayagraj.
The suspect, identified as Anirudh Pandey, is a first-year law student residing in the Sarai Inayat police station area.
Deputy Commissioner of Police (Ganganagar) Abhishek Bharti provided this information.
DCP Abhishek Bharti reported that during interrogation, Anirudh Pandey admitted to posting the threat on the microblogging platform X to gain fame, inspired by YouTube videos.
In his post, Pandey not only issued the threat but also tagged the UP Police, UP STF, DM of Prayagraj, and the Police Commissioner.
Following his identification, the police and surveillance team acted swiftly, detaining Pandey on Wednesday night under Section 170 (arrest to prevent commission of cognizable offenses) of the Bharatiya Nagrik Suraksha Sanhita.
Upon discovering the threat message on social media, the police swiftly took action, locating and arresting the suspect in Prayagraj. An FIR filed against him, and further legal proceedings are underway.
Police sources revealed that the suspect, Anirudh Pandey, claimed to have been previously associated with the BJP and held an official position in the party’s student wing, ABVP. During interrogation, he admitted to posting the threat against CM Yogi Adityanath to attract media attention.
Reports indicate that Pandey described himself on his X handle as a former student leader of Allahabad Central University and a past BJP affiliate and ABVP office bearer. He resides in Malwa Khurd Village in the Ganganagar zone of Prayagraj.
The arrest sparked a significant reaction, highlighting the serious consequences of such threats, especially against high-profile political figures. It also highlights the need for heightened security measures and vigilance in the current climate.
Yogi Adityanath, known for his strong leadership and controversial policies, has been a prominent figure in Indian politics. This incident added to the ongoing challenges faced by security forces in ensuring the safety of public officials amidst rising political tensions.
