KERALA: A Kerala court has issued a bailable arrest warrant against Yoga guru Baba Ramdev and his associate Acharya Balakrishna following a complaint filed by Kerala’s drug regulators. The complaint alleges that Patanjali Ayurved promoted misleading advertisements about its healthcare products.
The Palakkad district court issued the warrant on January 16, 2025, as reported by media.
The case originated from complaints raised by Kannur-based ophthalmologist K.V. Babu in 2023. His concerns prompted Kerala’s drugs control department to instruct its offices across the state to take legal action against Patanjali Ayurved.
The company allegedly violated the Drugs and Magic Remedies (Objectionable Advertisements) Act, 1954 (DMR Act) by claiming their products could cure health conditions such as high blood pressure and diabetes.
These kinds of claims are explicitly prohibited under the DMR Act.
