Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath accused the Opposition of silencing truth and undermining Indian heritage through impeachment motions against notable figures. He defended Justice Shekhar Kumar Yadav’s advocacy for a Uniform Civil Code and criticized the duality of the Congress. Adityanath praised Prime Minister Modi’s economic achievements, asserting India’s growth while calling for equal treatment of communities.

Mumbai: Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath has accused the Opposition of targeting those who “speak the truth,” referencing impeachment motions against Rajya Sabha Chairman Jagdeep Dhankhar and Allahabad High Court Judge Shekhar Kumar Yadav. Speaking at the World Hindu Economic Forum 2024, Adityanath lashed out at the Congress for what he termed as double standards and their attempts to stifle voices advocating for India’s heritage and cultural values.
Adityanath criticized the impeachment notice filed against Vice President and Rajya Sabha Chairman Jagdeep Dhankhar, alleging it was motivated by his work as a presiding officer of the Upper House.
“The Opposition is worried as to how a farmer’s son has reached this position. If someone, whether as a judge or a citizen, puts forth the truth on a social and cultural platform, he is threatened with impeachment,”
Adityanath said.
The notice against Justice Shekhar Kumar Yadav followed his remarks at a Vishwa Hindu Parishad event on December 8, where he advocated for a Uniform Civil Code (UCC). Adityanath came to the judge’s defense, asking,
“What was a person’s crime if he voices these opinions? Shouldn’t there be a Uniform Civil Code in the country?”
Adityanath argued that the discrimination between majority and minority communities in India should end. He emphasized that globally, governance systems respect the sentiments of majority communities.
“The world over, the system runs as per what the majority community says. India is saying the discrimination between majority and minority community should end,”
he added.
He alleged that the Opposition has a history of “managing the system of the country” and “strangulating the Constitution,” pressuring individuals with impeachment motions to suppress the truth.
Adityanath called for society to expose those attempting to silence India’s cultural and historical truths. He accused the Opposition of denying India’s rich legacy, even questioning the existence of Lord Ram.
“The Sanatan religion never claimed it is great or demanded its supremacy be accepted. It neither controlled anyone with a sword nor staked a claim on anyone’s land,”
he stated, contrasting this with historical rulers who exploited workers.
Adityanath highlighted the respect shown to workers building the Ram Temple in Ayodhya under Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s leadership, contrasting it with past rulers who, according to him, “chopped the hands of workers who built the Taj Mahal.”
Adityanath also praised Prime Minister Modi’s leadership in boosting India’s economic standing.

“India’s economy stood at the 10th or 11th position after 70 years, but PM Modi made it the fifth largest economy in just 10 years. By 2027, India will be the third-largest economy,”
he said.
Highlighting Uttar Pradesh’s progress, he noted that the state is now the second-largest economy in India and is on track to achieve a $1 trillion economy.
Adityanath’s speech not only defended individuals targeted by impeachment notices but also celebrated India’s cultural and economic strides under BJP leadership. His call for a Uniform Civil Code and focus on exposing “double standards” resonates with his broader message of embracing India’s heritage while striving for growth and equality.
