NEW DELHI: The Supreme Court of India has officially released a notification (No. F.6/RC(CM)-2025, dated July 28, 2025) inviting online applications for the prestigious post of Court Master (Shorthand). This recruitment drive offers a golden opportunity for candidates aspiring to serve in India’s highest judicial institution.
Number of Vacancies
A total of 30 posts of Court Master (Shorthand) have been announced. The category-wise distribution is as follows:
- Unreserved (UR): 16 posts
- Scheduled Castes (SC): 4 posts
- Scheduled Tribes (ST): 2 posts
- Other Backward Classes (OBC – Non-Creamy Layer): 8 posts
Pay Scale
The post of Court Master carries Pay Level 11 of the Pay Matrix, with an initial basic salary of Rs 67,700 plus admissible allowances. This makes the position financially attractive alongside its professional prestige.
Eligibility Criteria
Applicants must meet the following requirements:
- Age Limit: Between 30 and 45 years.
- Educational Qualification: A degree from a recognised university.
- Skills:
- Proficiency in English shorthand at 120 words per minute.
- Typing speed of 40 words per minute on a computer.
- Experience: Minimum of five years in stenography/secretarial work.
Candidates possessing a Law degree from a recognised university will be given additional weightage during selection.
Selection Process
The recruitment process will be conducted in four stages:
- Shorthand Test
- Objective Type Written Test
- Typing Speed Test on a Computer
- Interview
Performance in these stages will determine the final selection of candidates.
