In Hathras, Uttar Pradesh, a man accused of rape tried to run away from police custody. While being taken for a medical check-up, he asked to stop for a bathroom break. He then grabbed a policeman’s gun and fired at the police vehicle. In return, the police shot him in the leg, caught him again, and took him to the hospital.

A man arrested for allegedly raping a seven-year-old girl in Hathras, Uttar Pradesh, was shot while attempting to escape police custody on Sunday, officials reported.
The suspect, identified as Aman Putra Chand Khan, reportedly seized a pistol from one of the officers escorting him to court and opened fire at the police team. In response, the police returned fire, injuring him in the right leg.
According to officials, the accused attempted to flee while being transported to the court. He managed to grab a firearm from the officer in charge of the Saadabad outpost and fired at the police vehicle, hitting their jeep.
The police retaliated, ultimately restraining him.
Hathras SP Chiranjeev Nath Sinha told,
“Last night, an FIR was filed at Sadabad Kotwali regarding the rape of a minor girl, and the accused, Aman Putra Chand Khan, was arrested. Today, while being taken for a medical examination before his court appearance, he requested to use the bathroom near Nagla Konda. The Bisawar checkpost officer accompanied him. Suddenly, the accused snatched the officer’s pistol and fired, hitting our police jeep. In response, the inspector in charge shot back, injuring him in his right leg.”
The police successfully recaptured him and transported him to the hospital for treatment.
SP Sinha added,
“He has been sent to the District Hospital, and necessary legal actions are being taken,”
