New Land Registration Rule from September 5: Online Process, Aadhaar Link, Video Proof & Cheaper Property Division

NEW DELHI: The Government of India has introduced a new rule regarding land registration, which will come into effect nationwide from September 5. This initiative aims to make the process of land registration faster, easier, and more transparent through a digital system.

Under the new rule, a visit to government offices physically is no longer needed to register your land. The entire process will now be available online, allowing you to complete land registration from the comfort of your home. This digital transformation is expected to save time, reduce unnecessary paperwork, and minimize the chances of corruption.

How to Register Land Digitally?:

To register land digitally, you need to:

  1. Visit the official portal of the land reform department of your state.
  2. Select the land registration option available on the homepage.
  3. Upload all the required documents along with your digital signature.
  4. Submit the application online and wait for verification.

Once the verification is complete, your land registration will be officially recorded in the government system.

Aadhaar is Mandatory:

As per the new rule, the Aadhaar Card is a compulsory document for land registration. Without Aadhaar authentication, the registration process will not be considered valid. This step ensures the authenticity of ownership and prevents fraudulent registrations.

Video Recording:

To further ensure transparency and prevent future land disputes, the government has made video recording of land registration mandatory. With the consent of all parties involved, the registration process will be recorded to confirm that the deal is being done with mutual agreement.

Online Payment System:

The new system also allows you to pay stamp duty and registration fees online. This eliminates the need for cash payments and promotes digital transactions, making the process seamless and corruption-free.

Simplified Division of Ancestral Property:

Another important feature is the ease of dividing ancestral property. For example, in Uttar Pradesh, family property can now be divided by paying a stamp duty of ₹5,000, making the process affordable and hassle-free.
