[NEET Paper Leak] "Law to Curb Exam Paper Leaks will be Enacted": Maharashtra Deputy CM Fadnavis

MUMBAI: Maharashtra Deputy Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis announced on Monday that a law aimed at curbing exam paper leaks will be enacted during the ongoing monsoon session of the state legislature. Fadnavis made this declaration in the state assembly while addressing a supplementary question during the Question Hour concerning recruitment in government jobs.

Several legislators raised the issue, including Congress member Balasaheb Thorat, NCP (SP) legislator Rohit Pawar, BJP’s Ashish Shelar, and Bhaskar Jadhav of the Shiv Sena (UBT). They questioned the government on its plans to enact a strong law to prevent paper leaks. Responding to these concerns, Fadnavis confirmed,

“A bill will be tabled in this session itself for the enactment of the law.”

This decision comes in the wake of the alleged NEET paper leak and various other exam malpractices. On Saturday, Maharashtra Congress chief Nana Patole emphasized the need for stringent measures, stating,

“The state government must enact a strict law to curb paper leaks and punish the guilty.”

With the proposed legislation, the government aims to address the recurring issue of exam paper leaks and ensure the integrity of the recruitment process in government jobs.

The announcement by Maharashtra Deputy Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis to enact a law aimed at curbing exam paper leaks during the ongoing monsoon session of the state legislature is a significant and much-needed step.

Exam paper leaks undermine the integrity of the education system, erode public trust, and unfairly disadvantage hardworking students. By addressing this issue legislatively, the government acknowledges the seriousness of the problem and its widespread impact.

Several aspects make this initiative noteworthy:

Overall, the proposed legislation represents a proactive and necessary measure to safeguard the integrity of exams in Maharashtra. It is a positive step that, if effectively implemented and enforced, can lead to a more reliable and trustworthy examination system, benefiting students, educators, and society as a whole.
