New Delhi: Senior Advocate Manan Kumar Mishra has been re-elected as the chairman of the Bar Council of India (BCI) for the seventh consecutive term, having been elected unopposed.
Mishra, a member of the Rajya Sabha from Bihar, represents the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP).
The election for the Vice Chairman position of the Bar Council of India is still ongoing, with S Prabhakaran from Tamil Nadu & Puducherry and Ved Prakash Sharma from Delhi competing for the role.
The election for this important position is set for March 2, and according to protocol, the executive committee members will be elected under the leadership of the newly re-elected chairman.
Additionally, a significant national meeting of advocate representatives and members of the State Bar Councils is scheduled for May 17 in New Delhi.
This high-level assembly will address critical issues facing the legal profession, including advocate welfare, the long-awaited Advocate Protection Act, and various policy matters that will shape the future of the Bar.
The discussions aim to result in progressive initiatives that will ensure the protection and advancement of legal professionals across the country.
