Kozhikode: Kozhikode witnessed a rare incident as a judicial officer publicly apologized for misbehaving with a court employee. The apology was rendered on Saturday morning in the chambers of the Principal Sessions Judge, following a strong protest from court employees demanding immediate action against the misconduct.
The High Court Registrar promptly intervened, transferring the accused officer by Saturday evening. The matter escalated when around seventy members of the Women’s Collective, along with forty male employees, assembled in front of the district judge’s chamber. The employees stood united, pressing for accountability and justice for the complainant.
While the district judge initially declined to meet the group, the complainant was heard. The accused officer was summoned to the chamber, where another senior judicial officer was present as a witness. “In front of both of them, the accused officer admitted his wrongdoing,” sources confirmed.
Subsequently, the officer called the complainant and her supporters into the chamber and apologized for his misconduct.
Adding to the tension, local police arrived on the scene, mistakenly believing a protest was underway. The police intelligence department also flagged the gathering, further highlighting the gravity of the situation.
