Kapil Sibal stated “If 67 students have achieved top scores, and some are from the same center, the minister should be concerned rather than denying any issues. In this government, no minister would admit to any wrongdoing.”

NEW DELHI: On 16th June: Rajya Sabha MP and former Union minister Kapil Sibal called for a Supreme Court-monitored investigation into the NEET-UG examination controversy. He urged the Centre to consult with all states on the future conduct of this medical entrance exam, amidst allegations of irregularities in the marking system.
Sibal advocated for a CBI inquiry to protect the administration, emphasizing the need for an investigation by independent officers selected by the Supreme Court rather than the current government.
Speaking to media sources, the former Congress leader criticized Prime Minister Narendra Modi over the NEET UG 2024 issue, stating that if the examination system is corrupt, it is inappropriate for the PM to remain silent.
Sibal accused the National Testing Agency (NTA) of mismanagement and highlighted corruption allegations circulating on media platforms, including claims of providing answers for the exam. He called on all political parties to address the NEET UG issue in Parliament but expressed doubt about its prioritization.

Sibal stated,
“The current National Testing Agency (NTA) has seriously mishandled the situation, and corruption has been exposed through media platforms, including the provision of answers for medical entrance exams.” He also called on all political parties to address the NEET UG issue in Parliament, though he expressed skepticism about it being prioritized.
“Let him check social media to see how this is happening in Gujarat itself. Although Gujarat is considered a progressive state, it appears to be progressive in terms of corruption as well,” Sibal remarked. He also claimed that examination corruption is widespread, not limited to a single state but prevalent nationwide.
Sibal added,
“If 67 students have achieved top scores, and some are from the same center, the minister should be concerned rather than denying any issues. In this government, no minister would admit to any wrongdoing.”
He also criticized Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan for dismissing allegations of a paper leak or rigging in the medical entrance test.
Sibal suggested that the minister review social media reports, particularly concerning Gujarat, which he claimed was notably affected by corruption in examinations.

Sibal further pointed out that the issue of examination corruption is widespread across the country, not confined to a single state. He questioned the integrity of the results, noting that 67 students achieved top scores, with some from the same center, and argued that the minister should be concerned rather than dismissive. He added that no minister in the current government would likely admit to any wrongdoing.
The NEET UG 2024 exam, held on May 5, saw participation from over 24 lakh students nationwide. Allegations of irregularities arose when 67 students topped the exam, with claims of question paper leaks in Bihar.
