A Delhi man caused a stir by appearing in his undergarments during a court virtual hearing, while smoking and drinking. Delhi Police have arrested him for disrupting the proceedings and violating decorum in the online court session.

Delhi Police apprehended a man for disrupting court sessions conducted via videoconferencing by appearing in his underwear while smoking and drinking, an official reported on Saturday.
The individual, identified as Md Imran from Gokulpuri, has a lengthy criminal record with over 50 cases of robbery, snatching, and various other offenses registered throughout Delhi.
A case was filed on September 22 following a complaint from court record keeper Anshul Singhal at Tis Hazari Courts.
Deputy Commissioner of Police Raja Banthia, stated ,
“It was alleged that on September 16 and 17, an unknown individual joined the court’s video conferencing sessions using the name Akib Akhlak, appearing in his undergarments while smoking and consuming alcohol,”
Despite multiple requests to exit the session, he reportedly persisted in disrupting the videoconference. Subsequently, the police initiated an investigation.
Through a technical analysis of IP addresses and call data records, authorities discovered that the suspect had utilized various fake email IDs and frequently changed his location, complicating tracking efforts.
A senior police officer noted,
“Using local intelligence and manual searches, the team traced the accused to Chaman Park, Old Mustafabad, and arrested him from his residence,”
During questioning, Imran confessed that he had learned about the WebEx videoconferencing platform from an acquaintance and joined the court proceedings out of curiosity. He reportedly admitted to attending sessions in his underwear while smoking and drinking during the virtual hearings.
Police seized a mobile phone, a SIM card, and a router that the accused used to commit the offense.
Imran, a school dropout and former air conditioning mechanic, had previously been incarcerated and released in September 2021.
Since his release, he allegedly resumed his criminal activities, including robbery and snatching, as well as violations of the Arms Act, to finance his drug and alcohol addiction. Further investigation into the matter is ongoing, according to the police.
