Congress leader Salman Khurshid praised the Modi government, saying, “It’s good that Article 370 has been removed.” He acknowledged the decision as a positive step for India’s unity and development.

Congress leader and former Union Minister Salman Khurshid has commended the Modi government’s decision to revoke Article 370 in Jammu and Kashmir. He noted that Article 370 was fostering a sense of separatism in the region, which posed a significant concern.

He remarked,

“It’s good that it has been removed,”

Speaking from Jakarta as part of an all-party delegation, Khurshid stated that the abrogation of Article 370 has led to prosperity and democratic progress in Kashmir.

He highlighted,

“The removal of Article 370 also ended the perception that Kashmir was somehow different from other parts of India.”

Khurshid, part of the delegation addressing India’s position on Operation Sindoor and exposing Pakistan, spoke to audiences in Indonesia, saying,

“Under Article 370, the special constitutional status given to Jammu and Kashmir was fueling separatist feelings, which had become a major problem. It created a perception that the region was different from the rest of the country. But Article 370 was revoked and eventually abolished.”

Khurshid emphasized the democratic advancements following the revocation of Article 370, noting that subsequent elections saw enthusiastic voter participation and led to the formation of a newly elected government in the Union Territory of Jammu and Kashmir.

He added,

“This has led to development on the ground in Kashmir. Unfortunately, some people want to take it back to the old era but we will not let that happen,”

Khurshid stated,

“No country gives up any part of its territory… no family disowns a part of itself… and this is the message we have come with: Kashmir is a part of us, and we will never let it be separated. Whatever we did (Operation Sindoor), it was meant to teach Pakistan a lesson that you cannot do such things, nor should you try. Your intentions will not succeed. And I believe we have successfully delivered that message to Pakistan.”

Khurshid is part of a multi-party delegation led by JDU MP Sanjay Kumar Jha, which is visiting Indonesia, Malaysia, South Korea, Japan, and Singapore.
