The Union government announced the appointment of Chief Justices to eight High Courts across the country. Union Law Minister (Independent Charge) Arjun Ram Meghwal shared the update via his official account on X (formerly Twitter). These appointments are part of ongoing efforts to strengthen the judiciary by filling key positions in various High Courts.
The Central government, On September 21, officially announced the appointment of Chief Justices to eight High Courts.
The newly appointed Chief Justices are:
- Justice Manmohan, currently serving as Acting Chief Justice of the Delhi High Court, has been confirmed as the permanent Chief Justice of the Delhi High Court.
- Justice Rajiv Shakdher of the Delhi High Court has been appointed as Chief Justice of the Himachal Pradesh High Court.

- Justice Suresh Kait from the Delhi High Court has been appointed Chief Justice of the Madhya Pradesh High Court.
- Justice Indra Prasanna Mukerji of the Calcutta High Court has been appointed Chief Justice of the Meghalaya High Court.
- Justice Nitin Madhukar Jamdar from the Bombay High Court has been appointed Chief Justice of the Kerala High Court.
- Justice Tashi Rabstan, who has been Acting Chief Justice of the Jammu & Kashmir and Ladakh High Court, has been appointed as the permanent Chief Justice of the Jammu & Kashmir and Ladakh High Court.
- Justice Shriram Kalpathi Rajendran from the Bombay High Court has been appointed Chief Justice of the Madras High Court.
- Justice M.S. Ramachandra Rao, currently Chief Justice of the Himachal Pradesh High Court, has been transferred to the Jharkhand High Court as its new Chief Justice.

Union Law Minister (Independent Charge) Arjun Ram Meghwal shared the announcement via a tweet from his official X (formerly Twitter) account.
The Supreme Court Collegium initially made recommendations for the appointment of Chief Justices on July 11. However, on September 17, it revised its earlier recommendations concerning the appointments of Chief Justices for four High Courts.
