The Bihar Cabinet approved 26 key proposals, including hydropower projects, road upgrades, healthcare expansion, new courts, and jobs creation, aiming to boost development ahead of upcoming polls.

BIHAR: The Nitish Kumar-led Bihar government on Tuesday approved 26 key proposals across multiple departments to accelerate development and address pressing needs of the state.
Hydroelectric Projects:
The cabinet cleared the revised cost of Rs 166.81 crore for nine ongoing hydroelectric projects at Tejpura, Dehra, Sipaha, Balidad, Paharma, Mathauli, Rajapur, Amethi, and Dehri. At the same time, three projects at Barbal, Rampur, and Natwar have been officially closed.
Water Resources & Road Infrastructure:
To strengthen rural connectivity, the Water Resources Department received Rs 100 crore for black-topped road construction on the Paliganj distributary service road and canal embankment works. Additionally, the Road Construction Department secured Rs 381.22 crore for the upgradation of a 20.80 km stretch of the Kusheshwar Sthan (SH-56) road in Benipur, which includes bridge, drainage, and afforestation works.
Land Transfers for Education, Security, & Agriculture:
The government approved the free transfer of 51.40 acres of land in Banka district to the Home Department for establishing a Sepoy Training School. Similarly, 15.5 acres belonging to the Education Department have been transferred to the Animal & Fisheries Department for setting up a Dairy Project Plant in Saran district.
Judicial & Legal Infrastructure:
In a bid to improve judicial infrastructure, the Law Department received Rs 39.50 crore for the construction of 15 new court buildings (G+4), an amenity building (G+4), and a jail building (G+1) in the Sub-Divisional Civil Court at Rosera, Samastipur. The cabinet also approved the discharge from service of Anand Abhishek, Probationary Civil Judge (Jr. Division), Sheikhpura.

Labour & Welfare Measures:
Taking a step towards eradicating child exploitation, the State Cabinet approved the State Strategy & Action Plan for Elimination of Child and Adolescent Labour, 2025. For the differently-abled community, Rs 10.25 crore has been sanctioned for the launch of Mukhyamantri Divyangjan Udyami Yojana under the Sambal scheme to encourage entrepreneurship.
Healthcare Boost:
The Health Department received a significant push with Rs 746.64 crore sanctioned for the construction of the Vardhman Institute of Medical Sciences (now renamed Bhagwan Mahavir Institute) at Pawapuri, Nalanda. This revised approval includes a Rs 150 crore arbitration settlement.
Employment & Agriculture:
In the Home Department (Police Branch), the creation of 132 new posts has been approved for the ERSS Mirror Site Command and Control Centre at Gaya. Meanwhile, the Agriculture Department sanctioned Rs 67.87 crore to raise the honorarium of Kisan Salahkars (Farmer Advisors) from Rs 13,000 to Rs 21,000 per month under the Kisan Salahkar Yojana for FY 2025-26.
Industrial Expansion:
The Industries Department saw nine proposals cleared, which include major land acquisitions in Bhojpur, Sheikhpura, Rohtas, Sheohar, Darbhanga, Purnea, and Patna. These lands will be utilized for industrial expansion, FinTech City (Fatuha), and other infrastructure development projects.
